iScreensaver version 6.8.3 fixes an issue that could cause screensaver installers to crash silently on macOS non-English language systems (such as Korean). It also has improved error reporting, and has been tested with the latest versions of Windows 11 and macOS 12.1 Monterey. Any authors distributing screensavers to non-English macOS users should update and rebuild as soon as possible, and other authors are encouraged to update and rebuild when convenient.
iScreensaver Mac builds on Windows, Zip, and Catalina Issues
Version 6.4 relased today fixes several problems. We encourage all authors to upgrade, re-build, and re-distribute their screensaver installers.
- A Mac screensaver installer app, built on Windows, when transferred back to Mac, would fail to launch with an error message "The application 'My Screensaver Installer.app' Can Not be Opened"
- A Mac screensaver installer app that was automatically zipped (built on either Mac or Windows), and then unzipped on macOS Catalina, would give the error message "The application 'My Screensaver Installer.app' Can Not be Opened"
- A Mac screensaver installer app, built on Windows, would open and launch normally on Mac, but after installing, would fail to function. System Preferences would either crash, show an error message such as "You can't open the application 'ScreenSaverEngine' because it may be damaged or incomplete", or would show a blank Screen Savers panel, requiring a force-quit.
All of these issues are solved in version 6.4.
