I have an urgent question. We have used iScreensaver to design a screensaver for a conference that starts tomorrrow. All went well up to the moment we had to install the screensavers on the iMac terminals today stationed at the conference. The Macs do not recognize the installer file. Which actually is not strange as it has no extension to it like the PC version has. I have tried all possible extensions to make the installer work, but no luck.Your urgente assistance in this would be greatly appreciated. IP: Logged |

Most likely you copied the file incorrectly. Macintosh files have 2 forks (data and resource) and if you don't copy both it won't work. The solution is easy: On the mac that you authored using, right-click the file in the Finder and choose "Compress". This will create a Zip file. Copy (or email) this Zip file to the destination, and decompress there by double-clicking it, which will reconstitute the original application installer file. The other possibility is that you copied the project file (.ISC) instead of the installer file. IP: Logged |

I seem to be having a very similar problem. I am on a PC. I click Build for MacOS. In the installer folder a .BIN file is created. I attached this file to an e-mail and sent it to a friend to has a mac. When he executes it the Mac tries to open the Bin in a text editor and it is just gibberish. What am I doing wrong? One has to be careful when doing mac to pc file transfers and vice versa. See http://iscreensaver.com/cd.shtml and http://iscreensaver.com/webpage.shtml Bottom line -- you must always ZIP encode a mac application before transferring. Copy the .BIN file to a mac, convert it to an Application (right click and choose "open with archive utility", or use the free Stuffit Expander : http://my.smithmicro.com/mac/stuffitexpander/index.html Then, test the app to be sure. Once it is working, right-click it and choose "Compress file" which will give you a ZIP which can be sent via any method. IP: Logged | |
