When select an image(jpg) from Macromedia Fireworks 4 for the new project - the image will not import. The error message is incorrect file name - What am I doing wrong?

Are you trying to import and image for the control panel or installer, or are you trying to import an image as the main movie?

If you are trying to build a slide show, you'll either need to build the movie yourself or use our newly released version 3.0.

Also, what is the actual file name you are trying to import? Make sure it doesn't have any punctuation in it, such as /\"{}[]'" etc.

I think there are several issues

  1. Filenames with punctuation (such as the Plus sign) are not recommended
  2. PNG format may not be supported. Try PICT (PCT), TIFF, etc.
  3. Designer 2.0 doesn't support slide shows. You'll need to upgrade to 3.0, or else build you own slide show movie by following directions here: http://iscreensaver.net/slideshow.shtml
