Hi, I'm making an animation for a screensaver using flash. What screen dimensions and frame rate should I start with?

The answer really depends on who your intended target audience is. Right now, the most common screen size is 1024x768, so designing for this size is often a wise choice.Something else to consider is that iScreensaver has three different stretch modes: Actual size, Stretch Proportional, and Fit Screen. Depending on your needs, you may choose a different one. As for frame rate, again this is up to you. Our recommendation is that you design your movie to play back well on the slowest machine you would find in your target audience. Although new machines sold today often have a PIII at 1GHz, many customers still have slower machines (i.e. PII at 400MHz). Finally, one thing to consider is that you can't please everyone. In some cases, you may need to create several versions of your screensaver: One for slow computers with smaller screens, and one for fast computers with gigantic screens. IP: Logged | |
