iScreensaver : Creating a Debug Log
If you are experiencing a bug during screensaver installation or operation, it may be helpful to create a Debug Log and send it to us. Please email us and check with us first before you do this!
To do so, please follow these steps
If the problem is occuring during Editing or Building within iScreensaver Designer on Macintosh or Windows
- Reboot your system.
- Holding down the SHIFT key, launch "iScreensaver Designer" (On Windows, simply hit the Return or Enter key, on Macintosh type Apple-O). Remember to keep the shift key held down while you do this until the application has started fully.
- Keep holding the SHIFT key down until the installer opens.
- Version 3.5: You should now see a file called iScreensaverDebugLog_HHMMSS.txt on your Desktop (HHMMSS is the current time)
- Version 3.4 or earlier: You should now see a file called DebugLog.txt in the same folder as the "iScreensaver Designer" program (on Mac, in /Applications, on Windows, in C:\Program Files\iScreensaver Designer)
- Do whatever steps you take to cause the crash.
- Once you have encountered the bug or crash, please email us a copy of the debug file(s) and error message(s), along with a detailed description of what the improper behavior is.
- Mac OS X Only: You should look in two places for error messages:
- You may see a bunch of error messages / text in the Console window. Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.app to view them.
- You may have a crash log. In the Console window, click the "Logs" button and navigate to "~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter". Look for a crash log named "iScreensaver Designer 3.5"
- Copy and paste the log information into an email and send it to us, along with a detailed description of what the improper behavior is

- Reboot your system.
- Find the installer, and click it once with the mouse.

- Add the following lines
[GlobalDebugFlags]
